We are very sorry to let you know that all passports have now sold out.
We are planning another passport run over the summer of 2016 so make sure that you sign up to our mailing list to stay updated!
What is the MK Food Passport?
The MK Food Passport is a local initiative to enhance your possibility to buy local food. By the 20th November 2015, you will be able to buy beautiful paper passport which will not only tell you all about the local, sustainably produced food which is available in your area of MK, but it will also allow you to access discounts, specially produced foods and foodie events. You will be able to collect stamps every time you buy a product and if you have collected your share by the end of our first 'passport run' in February 2016, a special surprise will be waiting for you! Passports will cost £5.
Why is it good for me?
The MK Food Passport will be a primary source of information about independent food in MK.
- It can help you to invest your money in our local community and potentially eat better.
- It will help you to learn about local food outlets you might not have known existed and might even be able to connect to the producers themselves, fully understanding where the food comes from.
- You can connect with a community of other foodies in MK, host a supper club or advertise your own food event.
- The passport scheme has been designed by individuals who care about MK, its health and local food culture. We are not a big corporate company but genuinely work hard to bring proper local food to its community. Buying a passport will guarantee that more foodie events and initiates spring up in the future.
Why is it good for the producers?
Small producers often find it difficult to advertise and sell their products and this is especially true for a big brand-dominated city like Milton Keynes. Our passport gives producers access to a community of people who care about their food and its production. It also sends the message that we value them and their hard work. Finally, it connects producers with each other and encourages them to keep going, even if times get tough!
How can I get one?
Unfortunately our winter 2015/2016 passports are now sold out. We are planning another passport run over the summer of 2016 so make sure that you sign up to our mailing list to stay updated!
Who supported the Passport?
This passport has been made possible by the Our MK scheme (www.ourmk.org), part of the MK:Smart Project, co-funded by The Open University and HEFCE.
How else can I contribute?
If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, bringing together information about food in MK, get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org. Similarly, if you are a producer and distributor of independent food, please email us or register here. Lastly, we are hoping to create an active supper club circle, so if you'd like to host a dinner, we'd love to hear from you, too!
